Deut. 16:1-17:20 • Lk. 9:7-27 • Ps. 72:1-20 • Prov. 12:8-9

What I can learn from Deuteronomy:
Vs. 20: Follow justice and justice alone, so that you may live and possess the land the Lord your God is giving you.
Meaning: Don’t be bribed by anything; faux friendships, money, ANYTHING! If we do so, God will give us land- we will possess it.

Possess: To control FIRMLY.

Luke 9 vs 23-27:23 And he said to all, “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever would save his life will lose it; and whoever loses his life for my sake, he will save it. 25 For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself? 26 For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of man be ashamed when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. 27 But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God.”

Wow. Deep. Lord, soften my heart so that I will give up anything and anyone for you. I don’t want to be ashamed of You and Your words. Show me how to apply this to my life.

Psalm 72: This psalm is amazing!!! HE will endure forever… ‘as long as the moon, through all generations.’ The poetry is so beautiful in this book- I just love it!

Proverbs 12:8-9 “A man is praised according to his wisdom, but men with warped minds are despised” and “Better to be a nobody and yet have a servant that pretend to be somebody and have no food.”

Well, I understand that men with true wisdom will be praised accordingly, but why is it better to have a servant? Hmm…. I guess it’s b/c you at least have some money and are humble, where if you act high and mighty but are truely very poor, you are vain and sinful. But everyone is sinful. I just don’t know how to describe it.

I like doing this. I get a post in and my quiet time!
